PennDOT will begin daytime closures of Route 225 over Peters Mountain in Dauphin County in two weeks, and the road will be shut down for up to three weeks next month.
The daytime closures, on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will begin Monday, April 21 and continue until Friday, May 2.
During the closures, drainage pipes can be installed underneath the roadway between Halifax and Dauphin, according to a PennDOT news release.
Traffic will be detoured by way of Route 22/322 and Route 147.
The around-the-clock closure of Route 225 over Peters Mountain will begin on Monday, May 5 and continue until Friday, May 23.
The around-the-clock closure is necessary so that work crews can remove the guide rail along the road and strengthen the embankment deteriorating shoulder and on the north side of the mountain, the news release stated.
A roadway repair and resurfacing project is scheduled to begin in August for nearly six miles of Route 225 between Route 325 in Middle Paxton Township and Route 147 in Halifax Township.
