Traffic lights will be without power throughout the evening commute at a very busy intersection on the West Shore.
Lower Allen Township police said a contractor working in the 1700 block of Hummel Avenue struck a conduit carrying power to the traffic signals at 17th Street and Hummel Avenue.
The intersection is on the south side of the railroad bridge carrying traffic from Hummel Avenue to State Street in Camp Hill.
Police said the signals will be out for several hours since repairs to the signal conduit and wiring cannot begin until a gas leak in the area is fixed.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area until well after the normal evening commute times.
