Pittsylvania Co., VA - Some Pittsylvania County residents are calling the language in a proposed adult store zoning ordinance downright filthy.
The Board of Supervisors held yet another public hearing on the issue after a licensed massage therapist requested a revision to separate therapists from massage parlors, but one Pittsylvania County resident spoke out about so-called explicit terms in the original proposed ordinance - including referencing "human genitals."
Some Supervisors said they were too embarrassed to read the ordinance out loud.
Outraged residents say the ordinance goes beyond the issue of land use and delves too far into morality.
"Here they were trying to make a statement about how they felt about materials that might be in written form, and what they had written was probably worse than some of the materials that they would have banned in these stores, " said resident Karen Maute.
Supervisors have sent the amended ordinance back to the legislative committee for more revisions.
