Police: Man, 67, had inappropriate contact with minor

State police say a 67-year-old man was having unlawful contact with a 16-year-old girl over a 6- to 8-month time span.

On Saturday at around 10 p.m., troopers were called to the area of Kinsinger Road in Halifax, Dauphin County for a suspicious pickup truck parked behind the outfield fence.

Officials found 67-year-old Dennis Buffington of Market Street in Pillow in the vehicle; a 16-year-old girl was found hiding in the back seat.

Buffington reportedly told police that he was the girl's uncle, but officials called the girl's grandmother who said that Buffington was not a relative.

After both Buffington and the victim were interviewed by state police, Buffington was charged for having unlawful contact with the 16-year-old girl.

Authorities said the encounters occurred in various placed throughout Dauphin County over a 6- to 8-month time span. Buffington was reportedly in possession of inappropriate pictures of the victim, and police said he also texted her a picture of his penis.

Buffington was charged with unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, indecent exposure and obscene material.

He was taken to the Dauphin County Booking Center for arraignment, and his bail was set at $100,000 cash.

Buffington is not allowed to have any unsupervised contact with any minors under the age of 18.
