Two York County manufacturing companies plan to cut more than 140 jobs by the end of the year.
In a notice filed with the state Department of Labor and Industry, American Signature Inc. said it plans to permanently close its entire facility at 325 South Salem Church Road in West Manchester Township.
The Columbus, Ohio-based furniture company said it will begin terminating employees June 6. It anticipates that all 91 employees will be affected by the closure by the end of June.
Souriau gave the state notice that it will be consolidating its York manufacturing operations into other facilities owned by Esterline, its parent company, and permanently close its facility at 25 Grumbacher Road in Manchester Township.
The closure will affect 53 employees.
The maker of defense, aerospace and industrial connectors said closing the facility will take place in phases beginning June 9, with full closure expected to be completed by Dec. 31.
Both companies said the affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.
