New Covenant School Has Day Of Service

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA- Hundreds of students from New Covenant Schools came out to the Salvation Army in Lynchburg Tuesday. It was a part of their Hands and Hearts Project. The school pulled weeds, planted flowers, and cleaned up the grounds at Miller Park and the Salvation Army. They pressure washed the chapel and sidewalks. Students also hung art they made inside rooms for the residents. The school calls it an "extreme ministry makeover."

"Hands and hearts is a way of teaching our kids to love God and their neighbor. We don't have to go far away to do a project that touches people and partnering with the Salvation Army is an organization that does an immense amount of good right here in our community," said John Heaton who is the Headmaster at New Covenant Schools.

Students also helped those who are not local. Tuesday afternoon the school packed more than 20-thousand meals that will go overseas.
