A Lancaster County woman was driving drunk when she struck a police officer she was trying to elude, police said.
Manheim Township police said the officer was stopped at North Queen and Liberty streets Wednesday afternoon when 44-year-old Susan J. Drescher ran a red light and nearly struck the officer's vehicle.
Drescher, of Manheim, refused to stop for the officer and turned into the lot of Lancaster Mitsubishi, at 1009 North Prince Street, where she continued her attempts to get away, police said.
She entered a row with a dead end and then attempted to back out, and as the officer was trying to take her into custody he was struck by the vehicle, police said.
The officer was not injured.
Drescher then refused to exit her vehicle and locked the doors. She was taken into custody after officers broke a window to remove her, police said.
She was charged with aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, DUI, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her bail at Lancaster County Prison was set at $50,000.
