Golf Tournament to Raise Money for Lynchburg City Schools

Forest, VA- If you like golf and want to help out Lynchburg City Schools, an upcoming fundraiser may be just the thing for you.

NAIFA, that's the National Association for Insurance and Financial Advisors, is organizing a golf tournament at Ivy Hill Golf Club in Forest. The money raised will be divided equally between the 16 Lynchburg city schools to help teachers purchase instructional materials.

Organizers of the event are looking for sponsors for each hole, as well as teams to play in the tournament. The event is Thursday, May 15 and it costs $300 per team, or $75 per player. You can sponsor a hole for $100. Organizers are hoping to raise at least $16,000.

"Too many teachers take money out of their own pockets during a school year to get instructional materials, to get books. And we want them to be able to teach," said Larry Minnick, a tournament organizer.

In conjunction with the golf tournament, Buffalo Wild Wings will be donating part of their proceeds to Lynchburg City Schools next Wednesday night the 23rd.
