Lynchburg - Guilford overcame a 6-run Lynchburg second inning and rallied to beat the Hornets 8-6 in 11 innings Thursday afternoon in ODAC Baseball action at Lynchburg.
Guilford took an early 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the second before the Hornets charged back with six runs in the bottom of the inning to grab the lead. Joe Rogers belted a 3-run homer for Lynchburg in the uprising, Rob Tomasulo followed Rogers' shot with a solo homer of his own.
But the Quakers scored single runs in the fourth and seventh to tie the game and force extra innings. Guilford then scored two runs in the top of the 11th to take its first lead since the second inning and the Quakers held on to win 8-6.
Guilford improves to 19-18 on the season, 9-9 in the ODAC. Lynchburg drops to 20-10, 8-9 in the ODAC.
