Carlisle man arrested for police pursuit

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) - A Carlisle man who crashed into a tree during a pursuit was arrested after he tried to report his vehicle stolen, according to borough police.

Tyrie Miller, 28, was taken into custody Friday night and charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and several summary traffic violations, police said.

Officers had attempted to stop a vehicle in Letort Park at around 10 p.m., but the driver fled and the pursuit ensured.

Police said several officers were involved in the chase until the vehicle crashed into a tree a W. Louther and N. Hanover streets and the suspect fled on foot.

As officers were searching the area, police said Miller called to report his vehicle stolen. Officers went to his home and identified him as the driver, police said.

Miller was sent to Cumberland County Prison on $25,000 cash bail and a parole detainer.
