HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The plaintiffs in a constitutional challenge to Pennsylvania's law banning same-sex marriage are changing strategy and now asking a federal judge to make an immediate decision in their case.

Civil rights lawyers representing a widow, 11 couples and one of the couples' two teenage daughters filed the papers Monday in federal court in Harrisburg. A spokesman for Gov. Tom Corbett's office, which is defending the constitutionality of the law, says they'll also request a summary judgment from the judge instead of a trial.

The plaintiffs lawyers' say a trial is no longer necessary because the state's lawyers haven't refuted their clients' claims about their relationships and their inability to get the same legal protection and tax benefits afforded to married couples.

The judge had set a June 9 trial date.
