LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police said they used spike strips and a stun gun to stop a New Providence man who led them on a pursuit in three Lancaster County townships.

East Lampeter Township police said they tried to stop 37-year-old Jonathan Beattie for a traffic violation in the 1600 block of Lincoln Highway East early Sunday.

Instead of pulling over, Beattie fled to Old Philadelphia Pike and into West Lampeter Township. Spike strips there damaged his tires, but he was able to flee to Providence Township until the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving came to a stop, police said.

Beattie then tried to run away from officers. He was arrested after a stun gun was used on him, police said.

No one was injured and no property was damaged, police said.

Beattie was charged with fleeing and eluding, DUI, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and reckless driving.

He was sent to Lancaster County Prison on $50,000 bail.
