Harrisburg School District approves recovery plan

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - The Harrisburg School Board has passed the final version of its recovery plan.

Chief recovery officer Gene Veno presented the amended plan Monday night. It passed unanimously.

It calls for full-day kindergarten and no property tax increase for city residents. It also restores the five percent salary cut to employees in a lump sum payment, and an additional payment of five percent by the end of the year if there is sufficient budget growth.

Veno says the plan stabilizes the district's finances, but also incorporates rigorous academic goals.
