HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Police in Harrisburg say a man was recently arrested in Texas for a murder case that dates back to 1981.
On Monday, U.S. Marshals arrested 78-year-old Joseph Miller and charged him with the murder of Thomas Waller. Harrisburg Police Chief Thomas Carter says facial recognition technology helped investigators identify Miller, who shot Waller in the head in a parking lot near 14th & Regina Streets.
Valerie Waller lost her brother when she was 32. She says her brother and Miller had a dispute inside a club and her brother left with a friend and was sitting in a car when Miller came out and shot him. Waller died later at the hospital.
Valerie says she got the call from her nephew saying that Miller had been captured. Valerie says it was frustrating over the years waiting for justice, but she is looking forward to representing her brother during the legal proceedings.
"It does not matter to me how old he is, he needs to be brought to justice and stand trial," she said.
Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico says he is not sure how long it will take for Joseph Miller to be extradited back to the region.
