LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A convicted sex offender from Lancaster has been jailed on charges he distributed child pornography over the Internet.

Hector Colon-Plaza, 44, was arrested last week on four counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced in a news release Wednesday.

Colon-Plaza, a Megan's Law offender, faces a 25- to 50-year mandatory sentence if found guilty, Kane said.

According to the criminal complaint, a computer serving Colon-Plaza's home was found to be sharing several media files suspected of depicting child pornography on a peer-to-peer network.

Agents seized two laptop computers during a search of his home and found image and video files depicting child pornography, the complaint states.

Colon-Plaza was placed in Lancaster County Prison on $75,000 straight bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
