A Pennsylvania lawmaker has introduced legislation that would allow local police departments to use radar.
Sen. Randy Vulakovich (R-Allegheny/Butler) says every other state allows local police to use radar for speed enforcement. In Pennsylvania, only state police are permitted to use radar.
“We often talk about equipping our officers with the latest and best in technology; however, for some reason Pennsylvania has not yet provided its law enforcement officers with radar technology that has been around since World War II," Vulakovich said in astatementt. "It is well past time we provide our officers with this speed enforcement mechanism.”
Vulakovich's proposal, Senate Bill 1340, has been referred to the Senate Transportation Committee.
