Harrisburg drivers growing weary of potholes

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Harrisburg residents say 15th Street from Herr to State is filled with potholes. Neighbors have seen people driving their vehicles on the sidewalk to avoid potholes.

Vicki Jones lives along 15th Street. She says the potholes have become a nuisance, and she says if and when the city makes the repairs, they should be done right.

"I think they should pave the entire road," said Jones, "because if they just fill it in, the potholes will just come right back."

Mike Allen rides his bike daily on 15th Street. He says potholes make sharing the road with cars more difficult.

"You have to be careful because when you are trying to avoid potholes and looking out for cars, sometimes you end up on the same side of the street trying to dodge the same pothole," Jones said.

Mayor Eric Papenfuse says the city has $300,000 in this year's budget to fix potholes. He indicated the repair campaign would start soon, but didn't give an definite start date.
