Overnight shooting under investigation

BRIGHTON - AL - UPDATE:
Birmingham Police are now classifying the early-morning shooting as a homicide.  The young man's name has not been released yet, but we do know he died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.  The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 1700 block of 4th Avenue West in Brighton.
The victim died at UAB hospital, according to police.

Brighton Police are on the scene of a shooting where one person was shot.

It happened at an apartment complex near Rickwood Field. Police say they are getting reports the shooter was driving by in a vehicle when he or she fired a gun. No other information is available about the suspect. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
