7 displaced by apartment building fire in New Cumberland

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

Five adults and two children were displaced from their homes after a fire in a New Cumberland apartment building Monday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived in the 500 block of Bridge Street to find fire and smoke coming from the 3rd floor of the building at 4:15 p.m.

Crews quickly brought the fire under control and contained it to the 3rd floor and attic area.

The American Red Cross is assisting the affected residents.

One firefighter was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
