ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. -- An Altoona teen was arrested last month on theft and burglary charges after he allegedly stole a four-wheeler from a home, the Etowah County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

David Austin Chaviers, 19, is charged with one count of first-degree theft of property and one county of third-degree burglary. Both charges are felonies.

According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin, Chaviers stole a 2004 Kawasaki Prairie Twin-V four-wheeler from a home on Highway 132 in Altoona. An investigation into the theft linked the suspect to the crime, leading to his arrest on Apr. 21. The four-wheeler was recovered and returned to its owner.

Chaviers was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on a $7,500 bond.
