CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A single-engine plane made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon in a field next to the Chambersburg Airport.

The pilot told responders that he was flying at about 4,000 feet and on his way to Carlisle Airport when the plane lost power.

He was able to call 911 on a cell phone to give his position and report that his plane was in distress, but managed to land safely with no damage to the aircraft at 4:45 p.m..

Fire officials said the FAA was notified, but a representative would not be responding.
