EPHRATA, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Lancaster County man is facing charges after police say he sold religious artifacts that were taken from a church as scrap.

Dalton J. Richardson, 21, of Narvon, sold $10,000 worth of metal flagons, crucifixes, communion plates and a church dedication plaque to a recycling center, Ephrata police said.

The property was stolen from St. John Center Lutheran Church in East Earl during a burglary April 12, police said.

Richardson was charged with receiving stolen property and theft by deception and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
