A York County man is headed to trial on charges he kidnapped and raped a 7-year-old girl in June 2013.
Robert Yeager, 36, of Paradise Township, waived his preliminary hearing before a district judge Wednesday and allowed the charges to proceed to county court.
Police say Yeager climbed through the window of a mobile home and abducted the girl, then took her to a nearby home and raped her.
According to court documents, the girl told investigators that Yeager threatened to kill her family if she made a noise while they were walking to the other house.
The court documents show DNA evidence and the child identifying a tattoo on Yeager helped move the case along. Investigators told Yeager, who was already in York County Prison on unrelated charges, that the evidence against him was rock solid.
Yeager's mother, Esther Myers, says if her son is guilty, he deserves to be punished. She does not believe her son can get a fair trial in York County because she says he has already been found guilty in the court of public opinion.
Prosecutors have offered Yeager a plea deal of 10 to 20 years in prison. If the case goes to trial, the deal is off the table.
