Water bill meeting unsatisfactory to Harrisburg home owners

Posted: Updated:

Everyone who signed in and waited at the YWCA in Harrisburg for Capital Region Water's open house was searching for two things: answers and solutions.

Charles Link's bill went from $78 to $6,000. Heading into the open house, Link had a high bill and high hopes.

"I am expecting them to tell me today that they are going to rectify the situation and that my bill is going to remain the same," Link said.

With his $6,000 bill in hand, he sat down with a Capital Region representative, but he wasn't pleased with the result.

"They weren't going to do away completely with the $6,000, which they should, but they said they would try and get it down," he said.

Link was one of the more optimistic customers to leave the open house.

"I am not satisfied, not at all," said Rhoda Howard.

She says her bill is complicated and it does not add up.

Juanita Burke doesn't know how she is going to pay her $1,000 water bill.

"Nothing changed. It's the same. I still have the bill," Burke said.

She also walked away with more questions than answers.

Water officials are asking displeased customers to contact them by phone at 1-888-510-0606.
