Birmingham serviceman added to Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Posted: Updated:
Washington, D.C. - New names were added to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.. Among those servicemen and women killed or remaining missing in action following the Vietnam War was a Birmingham man.

PFC Ronald Hall of Birmingham was one of three Alabama servicemen added to the memorial. He completed basic training at Fort Benning in 1966. He joined Company C, 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Infantry Division as a Medical Aid Man in Vietnam in 1967.  He died later that year.

There are now 58,300 men and women honored on the memorial.

“We must always remember and rightly honor the proud Alabamians and all of the Americans who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom.  The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is one of the most sacred places in Washington and the names engraved on the Wall constitute an honor roll of brave servicemen and women who have given their all for their country.  Each new name added to the Wall should cause us to appreciate even more the dedication and honor of the many who served us in Vietnam," said Congressman Spencer Bachus, (R) Alabama.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fun pays for the engraving.
