PENBROOK, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 12-year-old boy was charged last week after he assaulted his case worker and threatened her with a knife, according to police.

Penbrook police said the boy tried to run away when they were dispatched to the assault at 2323 Hoffer Street on May 8, but he was arrested after a short foot chase.

He was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and resisting arrest through juvenile probation, and detained by juvenile authorities.

The case worker was injured and had to be transported to a hospital, police said.
