CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

Federal prosecutors have announced child sexual abuse charges against a man living at the Army War College in Carlisle.

A criminal complaint filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Harrisburg against 19-year-old Zackary Adam Knight alleges possession of child pornography and abusive sexual contact with a child under the age of 12, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Peter Smith.

The complaint was signed by an agent of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations.

Knight was taken into custody and appeared Monday before Magistrate Judge Martin Carlson, who ordered that Knight be detained in custody temporarily based on the seriousness of the offenses and the resolution of questions regarding his future fixed address, Smith said.

No date was set for future court hearings.

Maj. Gen. Tony Cucolo, Commandant of the Carlisle Barracks, said Knight is a family member of an Army War College student who lived with his family in student housing.

"From all that we know and from actions taken thus far, this is a very specific case with limited scope," Cucolo said in a statement. "Those involved know all that we know and I believe there is no further threat to any children on Carlisle Barracks."

"Out of respect for the families involved and the fact that there is an ongoing investigation, we will not give out any further details," Cucolo said.
