New traffic patterns and ramp configurations that were scheduled to begin this week at the Interstate 83 and Route 581 interchange in Lemoyne have been postponed.
The work will have to wait until a new overhead sign truss can be installed later this month, according to a PennDOT news release.
Construction crews on Thursday night had planned to reset the concrete barriers and shift northbound traffic to the newly widened portion of I-83 North, open the new ramp from I-83 North to Lowther Street at Exit 41-B, and close the existing Exit 41-B ramp.
Other work postponed until the end of the month includes the shifting of I-83 South traffic
The work is part of the $22.1 million contract that will make several safety improvements to the I-83/Route 581 interchange and its adjacent ramps.
The project is scheduled to wrap up in summer 2015.
