GRANTVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Grantville man was arrested after police say he displayed a handgun to a clerk during the attempted robbery of a Dauphin County hotel.

Charles Maxwell Ehrlich, 20, fled the Days Inn at 252 Bow Creek Road in East Hanover Township when he was refused entry, then tried to get away from troopers who tried to stop his vehicle early Thursday, state police in Harrisburg said.

He eventually crashed into the front porch of a home and was taken into custody.

Ehrlich was charged with attempted robbery, gun charges, forgery for counterfeit money, suspected DUI, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest and numerous traffic violations, police said.

He was committed to Dauphin County Prison on $50,000 straight bail.
