HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Katie McGinty ended her run for Pennsylvania governor Tuesday night by offering her full support to Tom Wolf, the Democratic nominee who will face Tom Corbett in November.

McGinty said she would do all she could to help defeat Corbett.

“While the results are not what we wanted, I want to congratulate Tom for running a great campaign and a well-earned victory," McGinty said in a statement. "And I want to make it clear right now – I wholeheartedly endorse Tom Wolf, and I will be all in to help Tom Wolf defeat Tom Corbett in November."

McGinty, a former state environmental protection secretary, also thanked everyone who supported her throughout her campaign.

"While we were not successful tonight, our fight for a brighter Pennsylvania continues," she said. "Our fight to build a Pennsylvania that improves the lives of Pennsylvania families continues. Together, we can defeat Tom Corbett and build a better Pennsylvania for everyone."
