HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Ryan Aument, a state representative from Lancaster County, has won the Republican primary for one of Pennsylvania's Senate seats.

Aument defeated fellow representative Gordon Denlinger in the race for the 36th Senate district by capturing 61 percent of the vote.

Aument has been a member of the House since 2011 and currently serves the 41st House district.

Denlinger has served the 99th House district in Lancaster County since 2003.

Both were running for the seat held by Sen. Mike Brubaker, who decided not to seek reelection.

Aument will face Gary Schreckengost, who was unopposed on the Democratic ballot, in November.
