Rob McCord played hardball during his campaign for Governor when he launched negative TV ads against Tom Wolf, but on Tuesday night McCord sounded like a big fan of Wolf, who had just been elected as the Democratic nominee to face Tom Corbett in the fall.
"I just got off the phone with my friend and an incredibly impressive man," McCord told his followers at his campaign headquarters in Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County. He was referring to the concession call he made to Wolf.
He went to call Wolfe "a man we need to fight to make our next Governor. Please join me in congratulating Tom Wolf."
McCord's tone was upbeat. He was speaking loudly and at times shouting to his cheering supporters. It did not sound like a concession speech from a losing candidate. If you hadn't seen the results, you might have thought McCord had won.
"Our first job is to win the next election," he continued. "so our mission tomorrow is the same as it was a week ago--our number one job is to defeat and evict Tom Corbett. Let's help Tom Wolf do that!"
