Pollster: Corbett must work to win in November

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Jim Lee of Susquehanna Polling & Research says Tuesday's election results indicate that Governor Tom Corbett has some work to do within his own party.

Lee says Corbett received 27,000 fewer votes than Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley.

Lee talked to voters who say they were disappointed in Corbett's education cuts, his handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse case when he was attorney general and as governor, and some say they were not sure what his top priorities are.

Lee says the Corbett administration needs to do a better job in the perception game. He says more than 60 percent of voters polled believe Corbett is responsible for property tax increases statewide because of the budget cuts.

Lee says voters are more concerned about the economy than social issues, and Corbett should shore up his base to win back the Democratic voters who supported him four years ago.
