YORK, Pa. (WHTM) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Monday morning in York.

Officials were called to the first block of North Pershing Avenue around 2 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, crews found 30-year-old Emmanual Morales with a gunshot wound, he was pronounced dead.

His family visited the scene today, they say they are struggling to understand what he was doing in that area. Family members told us they had a cookout yesterday and that they didn't know Morales had left the gathering.

According to his family, Morales was a loving father and husband who had never been in trouble before.

Officials say Morales' car was found two blocks up the road on Newberry Street. At this time it is unclear if Morales was killed near his vehicle or where he was found.

Anyone with information about this case should call police.
