HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett's spokeswoman says he has met with the investigator examining his handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case while he was attorney general.

The Republican governor's communications director told The Associated Press on Friday that the meeting was earlier this week. She declined to provide other details.

Democratic Attorney General Kathleen Kane began the investigation in February 2013 and put an ex-federal prosecutor in charge.

Kane has asked why it took nearly three years after the first victim was identified to bring charges against Sandusky, Penn State's former assistant football coach.

Corbett was running for governor during one year of the investigation. He has denied politics played a role in the length of the probe.

Sandusky later was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse.
