Pennsylvania State Police are investigating that death of an inmate at the state prison in Camp Hill.
Warren Pennick, 56, was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after a corrections officer found him unresponsive in his cell at 4:20 a.m., according to a news release from State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill Superintendent Laurel Harry.
The corrections officer was performing a routine security check on a housing unit when he made the discovery, Harry said. The officer immediately called for assistance and began performing CPR until prison medical staff arrived, and CPR was continued until local ambulance and EMS crews arrived and took over.
Pennick had been at the prison since April 28 and was serving a 20- to 40-year sentence for third-degree murder out of Montgomery County.
The official cause of death will be determined by the Cumberland County Coroner's Office.
