Trial Set for Man Charged in Connection with Franklin Co. Boy's Shooting Death

Update: A Franklin County man charged in an accidental shooting that killed a seven year old boy will go to trial in October.  Jeffery Ireson is charged with two counts of child abuse and two counts of child cruelty

Franklin Co., VA - A man has been charged in connection with the death of a seven year old boy who was shot and killed by his twelve year old brother.

Jeffery Carl Ireson was charged Wednesday with two counts of child cruelty.

The seven year old was shot and killed instantly on April 21st after his older brother found a handgun.

According to the sheriff's office, the boys would often go over to the neighbor's house on Double Oaks Lane.
