Weekly Buzz: National Lemonade Days, Wine Festival, Car Show Fundraiser

Lynchburg, VA - In the heat, everyone could use a little lemonade to cool off.

Come out and support National Lemonade Days at Boonsboro Shopping Center in Lynchburg on Saturday June 7th.

It's from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. and raises money to fight childhood cancer.

A Lynchburg girl named Edie Gilger, who is battling neuroblastoma, started the national campaign locally.

This year her family planned on doing a big stand, but her pregnant mother, Emily, found out she had neuroblastoma as well.

Emily delivered the baby early so she could get treatment, so friends and family are holding it for them.

The New River Valley Chapter will be hosting the 6th annual Wine Festival at Virginia Tech.

It's Saturday June 7th from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m., rain or shine.

The festival will feature wineries from around the region, specialty items from local vendors and Salsa music.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office organized a classic car show fundraiser this Sunday June 8th.

It's all in an effort to help a 40 year veteran of the office, Captain and Lead Investigator, Gerald Higginbotham.

He was diagnosed in November with lung cancer and it's now spread to his bones and other organs.

The event goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. outside Amherst County High School.

Admission is free but food will be available for purchase and donations are accepted.

All proceeds go to his medical expenses.
