PPL says the power should be back on for almost everyone by 11:15pm.

The problem is a piece of broken equipment called a cross arm.  It's part of a utility pole near Pine Grove. They're working to fix it now.

Almost 8,000 PPL customers in upper Dauphin County have no power.

We've just spoken with the utility (at 8:45 Thursday night) and they do not yet know what caused the outage. They say they've dispatched several crews to track down the problem.

Here's the breakdown of how many customers have no power and where they are located:

Elizabethville: 3843
