Dan River Autism Awareness 5K Presents $41,000 Check to The Autism Education Fund
Danville, VA - Thanks to a month-long autism awareness campaign back in April, folks on the Southside raised more than $41,000 to help children and families dealing with autism.
Organizers for the Dan River Autism Awareness 5K put on a campaign in April called "Turn Southside Blue". They sold blue light bulbs to bring awareness to the disorder and held a 5K run, among other events.
They recently presented a check for $41,500 to the Autism Education Fund.
The grants made from this fund are used to provide support for educators, supplement costs of educational services, and promote autism awareness in the community.
