Harrisburg man headed to trial in woman's heroin death

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Harrisburg man is headed to trial in the heroin overdose death of a Hummelstown woman.

Tony H. James Jr., 36, waived his preliminary hearing before a district judge Monday and allowed the charges against him to proceed to Dauphin County court.

James is accused of delivering heroin to 31-year-old Kelly A. Sherrick before she died of an overdose Dec. 13 in a public restroom at the Weis Market at 6301 Grayson Road in Swatara Township.

He is charged with first-degree felony counts of drug delivery resulting in death and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

He is being held in Dauphin County Prison on $500,000 bail. A formal arraignment scheduled July 18.
