UPDATE: Man Charged With Robbing Roanoke Family Dollar

UPDATE: Roanoke Police have charged James Edward Ferguson III, 54, with robbing the Family Dollar on Dale Avenue on Sunday.

He was taken to the Roanoke City Jail.

Roanoke, VA - According to Roanoke Police, the Family Dollar Store on Dale Avenue was robbed on Sunday.

Roanoke Police were called to the store around 10 a.m. to investigate a report of a robbery.  

One of the store clerks told officers a white man, possibly in his 60s, walked into the store, went up to the counter, and demanded money.

The clerk told officers there was a threat of a weapon but no weapon was displayed.  

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot.  No one was hurt in the incident and the robbery is under investigation.
