HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
A Harrisburg police officer was injured in a serious car crash while responding to a call early Tuesday morning at 13th and Chestnut Streets.
Initially, witnesses assumed it was the result of a chase. However, that was not the case.
Harrisburg police said just before 3 a.m., an officer was responding as backup to a report of a fight. He was traveling down Chestnut Street, when an unrelated driver in a silver Lexus turned onto 13th Street. That is where the two collided. Both airbags were deployed and the drivers were taken to the hospital.
Both drivers are said to be "responsive."
There's no word if speed was a factor in the crash. State police are investigating.
