Cumberland County Vector Control has more than 150 mosquito trap locations that they monitor during the summer months. This year, they have received several complaints from people who have been attacked by swarms of "daytime biters." Like Nancy Black, who was attacked by a swarm in her yard late Monday morning.
She says she can't remember having so many bites at one time, "Mosquitoes usually don't like me," said Black, "but this year, it is a different story."
Vector Control officials say the "daytime biters" reproduce in flood waters and wetlands, they are not known carriers of West Nile Virus.
Officials have placed traps in effected areas and will be spraying on Thursday in parts of Silver Spring Township.
