Lincoln, Nebraska - Nebraska's Ameer Abdullah, a former standout athlete at Homewood High School in Birmingham, has been billed as the top senior running back prospect in college football by ESPN's Mel Kiper.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Abdullah has rushed for nearly 3,000 yards in three seasons for the Cornhuskers and he is poised to set several school records for a career in 2014. Since his freshman season in 2011, he has played in every game at Nebraska. Abdullah followed a breakout sophomore season with 1,690 yards on the ground as a junior.

For his career, Abdullah has amassed 2,977 yards rushing on 549 carries and 19 touchdowns. He'll look to break Mike Rozier's records for most rushing yards for a career (4,780) and carries (668) next season.

According to Kiper:

Nebraska hasn't churned out running backs the way it did in the Tom Osbourne era, but Abdullah is as productive a back as they've seen in Lincoln since Ahman Green. He leads all FBS players in career yards from scrimmage, and offers value not merely as an explosive runner, but as a pass-catcher, with 50 catches over the past two seasons

Auburn's Corey Grant and Alabama's T.J. Yeldon also made Kiper's list of Top RB Prospects for 2015.

Kiper said Grant is "a quiet contender to be one of the breakout players in the SEC". Grant is No. 3 on the list of senior running back prospects after he averaged 9.8 yards a carry last season.

Yeldon is No. 3 on Kiper's list of "underclassman running backs" after running for over over a thousand yards in each of his first two seasons at Alabama.

"He has good size and speed, and I love his feet," Kiper writes. "The question will be speed."
