HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has passed legislation to ban "revenge porn."

House Bill 2107, sent to the Senate on Tuesday, would make it a crime to distribute an image of someone who is nude or engaged in sexual conduct if the intent is to cause emotional distress to that person.

The bill not only allows for criminal prosecution, but for civil lawsuits against jilted lovers who share intimate photos or videos of former partners, and prosecution would be allowed if the person who sends the images is from another state and the victim is from Pennsylvania.

The crime would be a third-degree misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $1,000 and up to six months in prison.
