SEVEN VALLEYS, Pa. (WHTM) -

A York County man awaiting trial in a murder-for-hire plot has been arrested for a second attempt to have someone killed.

Gregory Allen Hess, 46, of Seven Valleys, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by state police and charged with solicitation of criminal homicide, according to a news release from the York County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors did not release details of his second arrest in two months, but court documents indicate that Hess, while free on $10 million bail, tried to arrange the murder of the confidential informant in his first case.

Hess initially was arrested April 18 after police say he offered someone $30,000 to kill a male acquaintance of his wife.

The man hired to make the hit went to police, and investigators said they set up a ruse with the would-be target to convince Hess that the murder had been carried out, including photographs of the man bound in the trunk of a car.

Hess was arrested after he paid the informant in a restaurant parking lot, police said.

His bail was denied when he was returned to York County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled June 30.
