Woman headed to trial for alleged sexual abuse of teen

Posted: Updated:
LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Lancaster County woman is headed to trial on allegations she had an intimate relationship with a 17-year-old resident of a Millersville placement home for teen boys in foster care while she worked there as a staff member.

Rikki Lynn Salzman, 31, of Landisville, waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday and allowed all charges against her to proceed to court. A formal arraignment is scheduled July 11.

Salzman is accused of having sexual contact with the teen on multiple occasions between July and December 2012 while he was staying at Arborvale Manor, according to a criminal complaint filed by Millersville police.

The teen told investigators that he and Salzman were involved in an intimate relationship that included hugging and kissing, and another resident said he witnessed the two engaging in intimate contact, police said in the complaint.

Arborvale Manor administrators also provided investigators with surveillance video that showed an inappropriate interaction between Salzman and the boy, along with logs that documented meetings held with Salzman to discuss a variety of inappropriate and unprofessional interactions between her and residents, the complaint states.

Salzman, who was suspended and then terminated from Arborvale Manor, has been charged with third-degree felony counts of institutional sexual assault of a minor, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor.
