YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

A York County resident confronted and struggled with a would-be burglar after catching the unknown intruder in his garage Tuesday night.

The resident of the 1300 block of Sterling Drive in Manchester Township told officers he saw a black Honda coupe circling the neighborhood before the driver parked near his home and two males walked onto his driveway, according to Northern York County Regional police.

One of the males walked through an open garage door and set off the motion detector light, and the resident got into a struggle with the would-be burglar that continued from the garage onto the front yard of an adjacent home, police said in a news release.

The intruder was able to escape and he and his accomplice fled.

Responding officers found the Honda unoccupied and impounded it, but did not find the suspects. Police believe both were stealing items from vehicles in the area.

Any resident of the western portion of Manchester Township who had a vehicle entered or items stolen is asked to report it to police by calling 911.
