Driver arrested for drugs after hit-and-run crash

HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Hanover man was arrested for DUI and drugs following a hit-and-run crash Tuesday afternoon in West Manheim Township, according to police.

Police said 31-year-old Jeremy James Long crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle in the 1900 block of Baltimore Pike, then fled the scene and abandoned his car on Fairview Drive after a witness followed him.

Long then fled on foot and attempted to hide drugs and paraphernalia in a yard, but was caught by responding officers, police said.

He was charged with DUI, accidents involving personal injury, accidents involving injury while not properly licensed, driving with a suspended license, failure to stop at a red signal, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence.

The other driver sustained minor injuries from the crash, police said.
